This page includes a list of common questions around the submission of Metrodora Award nominations, judging criteria and use of the cash award.

Who can nominate for these Awards?
Anyone can nominate a woman from any one of the key emerging regions of Emerging Asia, Latin America, Africa, Russia/CIS and the Middle East for the Metrodora Awards. You can nominate more than one candidate, as long as she meets all eligibility criteria.
Self-nominations and nominations of relatives will not be accepted. Nominations from employees of event organizers and sponsor, as well as judges and speakers of the Metrodora Awards will not be accepted. -
Who can I nominate?
You can nominate any woman who meets our selection criteria:
a. Candidate must have a master’s degree
b. Demonstrate exceptional leadership and significant contributions to one or more of the following aspects (in academia, government, regulatory or other sectors):
• Healthcare stakeholder education
• Research in science & medicine
• Clinical medical/ public health practice
• Health care systems and health policy
• Patient-centric scientific advocacy
• Strengthening mental health
c. Actively involved in scientific research, clinical practice or public health
d. Able to attend the award ceremony in person or virtually

What should I include in my nomination?
Each entry must include all the information mentioned under the “How to enter” section. All information provided will be used by the judging panel to assess the nominee against the eligibility criteria for the relevant award category.

When is the deadline for the nominations?
All nominations must be submitted by 11:29PM (Singapore Time) on 6th March 2022 to Metrodora.awards@gcihealth.com

Will I receive a confirmation that my application has reached you?
An acknowledgement email will be sent once we’ve received the complete nomination and all supporting information

Can I submit my application in any other language than English?
We only accept nominations sent in English.

What if I don’t have a reference for my submission?
You’re required to provide a letter of recommendation from an eminent health or research professional within or outside the candidate’s home institution. Incomplete nominations will not be considered for evaluation

When and how will I find out if my application has been successful?
Nominees who are shortlisted will be notified via email by 16th March 2022.

Who will judge the submissions?
An independent panel of five women leaders who are experts from organizations involved in science and medicine will consider each nomination and vote on the winners for each category.
In the event of a dispute as to the category in which an entry(s) will be judged, the decision of the judges and Metrodora Awards organising team will prevail. Judges may recommend for an entry to be switched to a different category at their discretion and based on the merit of the nominated candidate’s profile. Nominated candidates will be notified and we will ask for their consent if they would like to be considered under the changed category. -
What are the assessment criteria?
Individual criteria differ by category, but the emphasis is on the overall quality of the entry and merits of innovation and leadership in science and medicine as demonstrated in the entry.
There are 4 award categories, with one winner in each award category:
i. Clinical Practice Leader in Science & Medicine
ii. Public Health Leader in Science & Medicine
iii. Patient Champion in Science & Medicine
iv. Mental Health Leader in Science & Medicine
Entrants in each of these categories will be judged based on all the eligibility and selection criteria mentioned in the nomination form. -
Is there a voting system where I’m able to vote for the nominees?
The nominees will be solely judged by the judging panel based on the evaluation criteria stated in the nomination form

Can I nominate a candidate if I’m related to them (e.g. spouse / family)?
You can nominate any deserving woman leader or achiever who is a member of the Partnership for Change Network (PCN), as long as it’s not yourself or a relative. Nominations from employees of event organizers and sponsor, as well as judges and speakers of the Metrodora Awards will not be accepted.

Is it okay if I nominate someone who’s not within the nomination criteria? Will my nomination still be considered?
Unfortunately, we only consider submissions that meet our nomination criteria, as mentioned above.

Am I allowed to hold other scholarship grants concurrent with the Metrodora Awards?
Yes, as long as the terms of the other scholarship don’t preclude you from holding this one.

Is the grant subject to taxation?
It may be subject to local taxation. Payment of all and any taxes in relation to the grant is the sole responsibility of the Metrodora Awards winner.

When and where will the award ceremony be held
The Metrodora Awards Ceremony will take place virtually on 30 March 2022 at 4 p.m. UAE time (8 p.m. Singapore time, 12 p.m. UK time) and an invite and link for the ceremony will be sent to all registered participants prior to the event.
